Sweet Boy

Sawyer is the sweetest!

Today he had a doctors appointment for a physical and shots since he's
5 and going into kindergarten. He was brave and Jake is going to
reward him w/ lunch at Red Robin.

After sending me a video of Sawyer telling me what happened and where
they were headed Jake send s a text. It says the following:
"Sawyer would like to go to red Robin with you and invite granny does
that sound good meet you there at 1 o'clock?"

My sweet boy wants to share his favorite restaurant and reward with my
and my mom too!! So sweet. He spoils us so much.

Apology

From the other room Sawyer says loudly "Can I tell you what I want to
apologize for?"

I tell him "Sure Honey."

"I tripped over Kamatz."

I see him sitting on the floor holding his ankle. Poor thing twisted
his ankle tripping over what I think was a spooked kitty. I inquire if
he's okay.

S: Yeah. I'm fine. It just hurts pretty bad.

Me: You want some ice?

S: No thank you.

Seriously, Sawyer is THE sweetest kid ever and has the gentlest
spirit. I pray the world doesn't stomp it out of him and that he grows
closer to God through this gift.

Movies

After eating dinner & dessert Sawyer picks up The Fall and inquires about it.

I tell him I can't answer his question because I haven't seen it.

He responds, "Maybe dad has seen it. He sure likes movies!"

Bath Time I Love Yous

Ever since Sawyer was able to sit unaided in the bath tub I've been
telling him "I love you" and requiring him to respond w/ "I love you
too." This has been a thing for years now and it continues.

Now we leave him alone in the tub and he plays in bubbly water after I
do soapies (shampoo/ conditioner). So every few minutes I will yell "I
love you!" He always yells back "I love you too!" So tonight I kept
yelling at him and responded:
I already said that three times!
I already said that to you four times!!
I already said that to you five times!!!

I yell "I LOVE YOU!!!"

I am so done saying that to you!

He cracks me up!! I love him so much.

Had Enough

Dempsey is unusually fussy this evening. No doubt because he is beyond
exhausted. He is loud. Sawyer, while playing Wii, says:
"I don't want to hear any more of that Dempsey. No more."

He was mostly sweet in his delivery but I sensed annoyance too.

A Cow?

S: mom you're a cow.


Me: really? what makes me a cow?

S: you like to tickle me a lot.

Oh... well... ok. lol

A Prayer a la Sawyer || 11.28.11

I wasn't in on the conversation or the prayer but I heard things like


Dear God,



forgive us for killing Jesus

help me stop giving mad faces to mom and dad

God please put things the way the were (Heaven/Eden)

please help our hearts feel good

Some adults don't even pray this well. So proud of our son and am so pleased with his high cognitive abilities at such a young age. He is such a gem and we are constantly learning things from him. Can't wait to see how Dempsey challenges/grows us.



When Jake asked him, "Sawyer do you remember what you prayed in there?" Sawyer says "No. It's kinda hard to explain."

Annoyed w/ Granddad

My mom sent me the following converstaion, as a text message, as I was headed out to lunch today. I literally LOL'd in the car.




Sawyer: I wish Granddad could talk normally.

Mom: What?

Sawyer: I wish Granddad could talk normal.

Mom (to me): Too funny... what goes on in his head and comes out his mouth.

I text her back asking her to ask Sawyer what he meant and for clarification. I was interested in why Sawyer thought Granddad wasn't talking normal. I mean, I had a hunch but I wanted to be sure. Here's what she replied:



Mom: Oh, I know exactly what he meant and why he said it.

This morning Granddad went on and on mispronouncing things and Sawyer got quite put out with him and his inability to say things correctly after he (Sawyer) restated the words clearly for Granddad.

I did talk with him about that being a way that Granddad was teasing him... I just don't think he found the humor in it this morning.

2011

I would have being rolling on the floor with laughter if I wasn't driving. I can just imagine my little guy getting so annoyed with his granddad not taking this talking thing seriously.

Superman

Sawyer's favorite power of Superman's is his x-ray vision. Sawyer
says "He can see through walls. That means walls are invisible to
him."

Pudgy Like Mommy

The boys & I took our two kitties to get shaved at my friend's shop,
All About Puppies. When we got them home it was quite a comical sight.

Kamatz, our gray kitty and biggest baby, looked like he'd lost 10
pounds. We can clearly see his pudgy tummy.

I remarked something like, "He's got a pudgy tummy just like mommy."
Sawyer remarked, "Yep, he sure does."

Warm Feet

Sawyer says socks are a blanket for my feet.

Sawyer says if you're here and have a telescope and you look up you
can see space and if you're in space and you have a telescope and you
look up you can see heaven.

Sawyer, after farting a LOT, grabbed the air by his butt and threw it in my direction. We all laughed so hard! Knucklehead!!

Spoiled

Sawyer: Mom, you're spoiled and I don't like that?
Me: Why?
Sawyer: Because that means YOU get whatever YOU want.

I assume this means he is perturbed because if I get what I want then he doesn't get what HE wants.  Knucklehead!

Lavatory??

Last night Sawyer was having issues going to bed/ sleep. So I let him snuggle w/ me in our bed. Towards the end of our conversation we were saying more "I love yous"... I told him "You my very best favorite Sawyer in the whole universe!" Very playfully he responded "You're the best mommy in my whole lavatory." Me: What?! Your lavatory!? Sawyer laughing: Yeah! Me: Do you know what a lavatory is? S: No Me: It's a bathroom! We both started laughing so hard. He kept saying it over and over because now there was a new element of funny. <3

Sleep

Sawyer calls what we do at night "sleep in the dark time".  He often wishes the dark time was shorter... no doubt so he can play Wii Star Wars Lego more.

Sawyer, after giving Dempsey a brother hug and kiss on his head, says "I like his face.  I like the way his face is made."  Such a sweet, sweet boy! <3

What Choice?

Someone asked for cake. He got cake. He was playing wii when i told him "you have a tough choice to make (showing him the bowl)." He said "what choice?" as he quickly paused the game and sat down.  :-)

Gotta Go

Love Mommyhood sometimes.  Sawyer, after playing Star Wars Lego as long as he could ignore his body's urgings, runs by me, blond hair flapping as he moves, and tells me "I gotta go poops! Bye!" He makes me laugh.

Knows It All

While working on signing w/ Dempsey I said "Sawyer is your brother."  Sawyer goes, "how did you know that?"  I said, "I'm the mom, I know everything."  He tells me, "No you don't. Can I tell you who DOES know everything?"  I say, "Sure. Who?"  He goes, "God does. God knows everything."  He is so right.  Love it!

Wisdom or Prophecy?

Jake and the boys were getting ready to go to Granny and Granddad's house in the morning.  Jake grabbed a banana to take as either breakfast or a snack.  Sawyer tells him "you should put that in a bag" but Jake lets the advice roll off his back and sticks the banana in his jacket pocket.  When they get to Granny and Granddad's house Jake notices his jacket pocket is moist.  He tells Sawyer that his jacket is moist and it's from the banana.  Sawyer, with a not-nearly-surprised-enough forJake look tells Jake something to the effect of, "You should have listened to me."  When Jake told me this tale I remarked, "Now we know he's a prophet."

Mouth Juice

Jake and Sawyer were together.  Sawyer makes a loud gulping sound.  Jake asked him, "What did you swallow?"
Sawyer paused for a moment.  Clearly his dictionary was "thinking".
He ended up telling Jake "Mouth juice."
If you don't understand Sawyerisms this translates to spit.

iPhone Lesson #1

Sawyer, playing on my iPhone, comes over and says "Mommy I need your help.  I accidentally pushed the wrong button."  I look.  The game naturally takes him to this place and he thinks he did it. Cute.  I show him the quit button and tell him "When you get here you need to push 'this' button.  It says QUIT.  See, Q-U-I-T."  He goes, "Oh thanks!" So sweet.

Generosity & Love

I love my Sawyer! He wakes up telling me that "today is a great day to share one or two of my blankets with Dempsey." Right now I just asked him to give Dempsey his blanket and Sawyer says "Can I please share one of MY blankets with him?!" And now he just told me "I shared TWO of my blankets with him." When I told him I was proud and I loved him he goes "Oh, that is so nice of you." Kid cracks me up! ♥  It's like I know that time will come when he doesn’t say or do things like this but I just have a really hard time picturing it. For example, Sawyer and I were rough housing and Sawyer was quite frankly squealing. Dempsey would get this worried look on his face and kinda shake and then squeal too as if to say "Stop that mom!" So cute. Then Sawyer would go to Dempsey and talk so sweet and Dempsey would just grin from ear to ear. Love.

Numerical Love & Abundance

Sawyer was telling Jake how much he loves him in a numerical value. (Sawyer has taken to telling us things like "I love you 51 18 47 92 38. I love you THAT much!")
Jake- That's a lot.
They go on talking about the beach and the sand and what sand IS (made of) and how much of it there is.
Sawyer- That's a lot.
Jake- Yeah, that's a lot... and God loves you more than all the pieces of sand in all the world.
Sawyer- I think i'm gonna cry a little bit tomorrow because I can't handle that much love because I'm too small for that.

After driving thru McDonald's & getting our food the aroma filled the car.  Sawyer remarked, "When we get home I'm gonna eat that smell!"

Preference

After church as a family we decided we'd go through the McDonald's drive thru.  Jake wanted In n Out but Sawyer reeeeally wanted McDonald's.  When we were about to place our order we noticed that it was still breakfast (10:52 a.m.).  We did NOT want breakfast.  However, when Sawyer realized it was still breakfast his response was "That's okay... I could prefer breakfast.  It's okay."
"Prefer", seriously?  He's 4!!

"If Dempsey wants to be a 'sugar baby' then you need to put sugar all over him.  That would make him a 'sugar baby'". 
This is a sort of response to us saying Dempsey will be a Sugar Baby for halloween.  The actual candy costume... just like Sawyer was for his first halloween.

LOL!  Not to mention that Sawyer has been asking him if he was doing this or that on the Wii game based on the sounds he was hearing... and he was RIGHT!

Tenses of "Hot"

When getting ready for his bath and feeling the water temperature after turning the hot water up- "The water is hotting up."  I love the English language.  Ha ha ha.

"Aware"

Right after I took this photo [below] I started to walk out of the room and heard Sawyer say "I did it Dempsey!"  Then when I came back into the room I found Sawyer sitting with his hand gently on Dempseys hand because Dempsey had started to fuss a bit.  I told Sawyer "You are such a good big brother.  I'm really proud of you."  With a proud smile on his face he told me "I'm being aware."  Can you tell what we're constantly on him about regarding the baby?  LOL

When he was trying to say something but his brain was working faster than his mouth... "when I.... when I think... when I.... Um, let me figure this out."  On a similar occasion the end phrase was "Um, let me try again." 


This rocks because grown men who have this issue aren't that articulate.
