Constantly Amazed

Last night during bed time routine, Sawyer asked "Wouldn't it be sad if Dempsey died?"
Me: Yes, very sad.
S: He would be okay though, God would take care of him.
Me: Yes but I would be so sad to lose Dempsey or you!
S: Awwww. But God could give you a new baby to love.
Me: I don't think I could Sawyer. I would be too sad missing Dempsey or you.
S: It'd be okay mom, we'd be with God. Hey, I could ask to visit for vacations.

Seriously?! Vacations!  I love how his mind works and that his heart is so in tune with God.

I told this story to my friend who lost her son just after his eighteenth birthday. She said "He amazes me. Tell him I wish there were vacation from Heaven."

I relayed what she said, like she asked, and explained her journey of losing her son to Sawyer. He was sad. I reminded him about the Relay for Life event that is held at Cal High each year and refreshed his memory of his experiences there. He remembered. I explained what Relay for Life does and how important it is. I explained about the research and the scientists and doctors who are working so hard to find the cure for cancer. Here's what he said:

would you be okay using your money or should we work with them (doctors.scientists) to help them get done faster?

I love him so much!!
