Elliott... A Future Friend
My best friend and her husband just sent me a link to a YouTube video where they found out the gender of their baby who is due in January 2014. I showed it to Sawyer. He was confused by what it all meant.
After explaining it to him he says "I hope we can be good friends when we grow up." So sweet. I hope they'll be friends... even if it's just as pen pals.

Prior to telling Jake a night time story, Sawyer explained that the
pill he took (GNLD's Herbal Rest & Relax) "wreaked... and wreak means
'unpleasant aroma' and aroma means 'smell'..."
Jake goes, "..is this more Martha Speaks?"
Sawyer says, "Yes."

5 Steps
Tonight, at bed time, Sawyer told me that "...if we were in Heaven it
would only take 5 steps to create the universe... 5 steps!" He was
talkung about physically using your feet to take 5 steps, not a
procedure with 5 steps.
Jake also shared that in the midst of story time Sawyer said, with
hand raised, "Excuse me, I want to pray for Dempsey." Jake said it was
totally sweet, precious, and quite the sermon.
Why did he want to pray for Dempsey? Because earlier the boys were
running down the hall and as Dempsey approached the kitchen he lost
his footing and took a header into the edge of an open front door. :-(
Poor guy. He has a nice goose egg but no signs of a concussion- praise
God! No blood either and no need for glue like big brother those years
ago.

Grand Canyon
Jake just shared with me what happened yesterday while I was gone. He
and Sawyer were watching a documentary on national parks.
A little later, while they were eating, Sawyer got quiet. When he
spoke again he told Jake, "I just want you to know I was praying that
God would protect the Grand Canyon sonwe could go see it."

Good Grief
I need to go back to bed. Why? Because Sawyer has already asked me

It took me a minute to remember 8 is the square root of 64!

First Non-mom Haircut
We all decided that Sawyer would get his hair cut short for his First
Grade school year. Jake and I talked about a barber shop for this
experience. We shared the idea with Sawyer and he agreed.
So, Jake and Sawyer went to the field this morning for some exercise.
A quick rest at home and off they walked to the local barber shop-
Vega's Barber Shop. John was the barber of the day.
Jake told me that when they were at the field and resting Sawyer said
he needed to take a moment and pray. He prayed to himself. After he
said he had "prayed that Jesus would send God to be with him during
the haircut". Precious! After the haircut Jake asked if he felt God
was with him. Sawyer said yes. I love that!

A Tale from VBS from a Third Grader
I shared this link on Facebook and in the comment thread began a conversation with Mrs. Norris. Here is one of her entries that just warmed my heart-
I love this. I love that Sawyer is the same person no matter where he is or who he is with. I hope that remains true of his character as he gets older.
He makes me so proud!!!
You and Jake are doing a great job too... I've been meaning to share with you Sammie's observations at VBS... one day she just couldn't stop talking about how awesome Sawyer is... how he does EVERYTHING well, obeys, asks great questions, is respectful, considerate, etc... and she gave me so many examples of what he did to back it up... She says he's the perfect kid.This is not the first time a Norris family member has said something wonderful about our Sawyer. Last school year Mrs. Norris shared what her class of sixth graders had said about him and his brother. Then, I believe, Madeline, the youngest Norris, had commented something precious about him as well. I can't find an entry for that one though. Now, Mr. and Mrs. Norris are always so complimentary of Sawyer.
