Oh My...

After a wonderful dinner and swim at the Vincent's we were driving
home. We were discussing the delicious food and I said it would have
been better if my mouth wasn't hurting.

We were explaining canquor (sp?) sores and Sawyer continued to worry.

Gasping he said, "Oh no. Oh... my heck!"

Jake and I busted up laughing. We couldn't help it. He is so wonderful.

An Idea

Conversation between Sawyer and Granddad:

S: I have an idea.
Gdad: What's that?
S: We can share a donut.
Gdad: Really? Do you have one?
S: See, that's my idea...

Sawyer has been wanting to get a donut for a few days now but it
hasn't worked out. So, I told him to ask Granddad and this is what
happened. :-)

So Thoughtful

I picked the boys up from my parents house this morning with the intention of going to church- the 11 service. After observing Dempsey for a while I remarked that he was going to call me out of service because he was getting tired and would therefore be fussy in his class. 

We didn't make it to church because Dempsey fell asleep in the van half way there.

Sawyer asked why I was sad about not going to church. I told him that Mommy really likes sitting with Daddy in church and we only get to do that at this particular service. I told him that I wanted him to go to Sunday School because learning about our Creator, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and how to be salt and light to His world is IMPORTANT.

When we pulled into our driveway Sawyer said this:
"When daddy gets home I will let you have some good time with him since you didn't get to see him at church. So I won't have to show him any Star Wars or anything..."

Sweetest kid ever!

Tangerines

The boys and I did some shopping at Fresh & Easy today. Sawyer wanted
some tangerines. Not having them more than once before I was surprised
at his choice. Never the less I bought them because I want to
encourage healthy food choices.

At home I peeled one. He ate a segment. Proclaimed it was delicious
and proceeded to ask me for two whole tangerines.

Later, from the living room, I bear him exclaim "These oranges are
delicious!" When I reminded him they were not oranges but tangerines
he retorted "Well, they're like oranges inly smaller. That's why I
call them oranges."

Ok Sawyer. Ok.

A Snoodle's Tale | Veggie Tales

As we were watching this particular episode Sawyer realized one of the
characters. He tells me "It's God." He was right. I love how he gets
that from a story that never mentioned the word God.

Jake took a freshly awake Dempsey into Sawyer's room this morning. The
first things I hear are "Good morning Dempsey" and "I love you
Dempsey, so much" from a sleepy sounding Sawyer.

Grasping Summertime Water Fun While We Can

It Means "Rewind"

Sawyer enjoys watching movies.  In each movie he has his favorite scenes he likes to watch over and over.  When the scene ends he says he's going to "fast backwards".  It means rewind.  We tend not to correct him because we like his Sawyerism.

He knows backward is the opposite of forward and he knows you typically "fast" forward.  So, his logic (as well as logic in general) dictates that you would "fast" the opposite- backwards.  I love it.

Making Friends At Disneyland

Our good friend Carisa got us tickets to Disneyland and we chose to
use them today. We decided to dine at the Plaza Inn (the end of Main
Street, backed up to Star Tours). It has rave reviews from the
MouseWait app and Allears.com.

As we were dining I noticed the party of four next to us smiling and
commenting about Sawyer. The usual comments of how cute he is, how
funny, how smart... They particularly liked his remark "I don't like
protein on the bone". This came after I gave him a chicken leg to eat
for lunch. :-)

They really swooned when I recorded a message from him to Carisa. In
it he stated "You rock my friend... Because you got us tickets to
Disneyland and Disneyland is the best park ever!" I heard "Awwww!"
from the next table and the matriarch of the party said "If I give you
my number would you send that to me?!" She was half serious. Mainly
wanting to communicate how much she loved that message but no numbers
were exchanged. :-) I have this fun vision of pitting it on YouTube
and seeing if she finds it some day and remembers her encounter w/
him.

I shared w/ them some of his greatest hits and their hearts just melted.

He makes my heart overflow and I just love this blessing from God!!!
We are having a great time at Disneyland.

Never Stop Giving You These

Those are the words Sawyer told to Dempsey just before giving him a kiss.

Sawyer had just handed Dempsey his paci and then came back to him and
said "Dempsey I can never stop giving you these... *kisses*.

Such a sweet boy and the best big brother any sibling could have!! We
are so blessed to be his parents.

Dreaming of God

Sawyer woke up this morning and told Jake about his dream. He said
that God was in it with him. Sawyer couldn't see him because he was
invisible but he could feel him. *hello!*

he then said that God was scratching his (Sawyer's) head. Like running
his fingers through Sawyer's hair... but not like Mommy does (forehead
back), more like this... showing us fingers run from neck up through
hair.

We asked Sawyer if it felt nice. He said it did.

Makes Me Cry (in a good way)

Yesterday Jake and I were taking the boys to spend the night at my
parent's house. On the way Sawyer was talking, as usual, and we were
doing our best to track and converse.

He got on this thought thread about God being everywhere. This being
accurate Jake and I affirmed that thought. He kept talking. "God is
even right here next to me" he says with such positive energy. "You're
absolutely correct, Sawyer."

Then he switched the thought thread to him crying because he was lost.
We listened. He said, "What if I was lost. If I started crying God
would try really hard to make me stop. If I didn't stop maybe he would
work hard to help me find you guys."

Seriously, our eyes were watering. I even told Jake, "He's gonna make
me cry." Jake said, "I know."

This child is so precious he overflows our hearts with love,
appreciation, and thankfulness to God. We learn so much about God and
ourselves from this kid. This wonderful package from the Lord. May we
continue to guide him, affirm him, love him, SEE him, encourage him,
and all the other things good parents do with God's leading.
