Los Angeles Air

Last night we were flying into LAX from Seattle. It was about 8 p.m.
so the sun had just about set. Sawyer told us to look at the clouds.
Jake informed him that is more like smog than clouds.

Sawyer says, "That's dirty fuzzy air."

He's so right!

Opposite of Approach

Earlier this month Sawyer told us:

"Unapproach is the opposite of approach."

Then he asked, "What does approach mean?"

I love how his mind works!

If Only It WAS God

Upon hearing singer/ songwriter Andrew Peterson's CD playing in the living room Sawyer made the following conversation.

"I know who's singing.  It's God."

Why do you think that?

"He said 'don't give up on me'... right?"

That is what was said but not by God.  It's a gentleman named Andrew Peterson.

I love that he immediately thinks God says "don't give up on me".  Some days, some times, like this one, I know God is talking to me (us) through my precious boy.  My favorite Sawyer in the whole wide world.

Sawyer Said This About Dempsey

Owies

"Am I like a planet of owies?"

This is the question Sawyer asked us while he was in the bath. I had
remarked to Jake that our boys are getting beat up. I said that
because they both have bruises on their faces right now. Sawyer has
two- one he got last night at Farmer Boys. He was rough-housing w/
Granddad and smacked his face on the edge of the table. The other
happened just before bath time. He bent over to drop trow and hit his
head on the edge of the counter. :-(
Dempsey is a toddler. Enough said.

Almond Puff Pastry

Jake woke w/ a hankering for Almond Puff Pastry. He enlisted the help
of Sawyer, culinary apprentice.

Amid the discussion was "when can we taste it?"

Jake said the real tasty part is when it's all finished. THEN we can taste it.

Sawyer goes, "Well, there's A LOT of sugar in it so I think it's more
of a dessert."

I think that deflated Jake's balloon a bit because he was planning to
eat it FOR a meal instead of as a dessert. :-)

FLIRT!!!!

Tonight @ Ruby's Whittwood Sawyer, Dempsey, and I had dinner w/ Granny
& Granddad. Our server went on his break and his replacement was a
girl named Samantha. She came by to pick up the checks and Sawyer
asked her "Can I tell you something?" She said, "Sure." Little did she
know what was coming.

He said......


Wait for it.....

Wait for it......

"You're beautiful!"

*jaw dropped*

All the adults were caught off guard and Samantha was so flattered.
Then Granny, Granddad, and I looked at each other as if to say "oh
dear... we are so in trouble!" or "it's starting early".

Sweet thing was Sawyer asked us later "Was that a nice thing to say?"

A resounding "YES!!"

Cars 2

Watching Cars 2 Sawyer asked me "How can Finn McMissile hear without ears?" 

I told him "Good question." 

How do I accurately explain personification? Lol

Channelling God

Over a year ago I had one of the sweetest encounters w/ God through Sawyer.

I had stepped back and not realized Sawyer was right behind me. I
stepped in his toes. I apologized profusely and was quick to make sure
he was all right.

He was

I kept apologizing. He looked at me and said, "That's okay Mom, you
don't have to apologize, I forgave you before you asked."

Now, if that wasn't a message straight from the Almighty I don't know
what is. I still get chills when I tell this story. God is so good!

It's Work

Today Sawyer was on Dempsey duty whilst I worked on de-fleaing Lakota.
Amid Dempsey's verbal assault on Sawyer's ears, constantly touching
things he shouldn't, fussing because Sawyer told him "no" (& rightly
so), I kept affirming Sawyer.

"You're doing great, Sawyer!" "He's fine, he's not hurt, he's just
upset." "I won't be too much longer."

When all was finished Sawyer tells me, "I'm tired. This is a lot of work!"

I used that to show Sawyer that when Mommy and Daddy say we're tired
there's a good reason and he's just lived it. Nothing like experience
to teach lessons.

Socks Kitty

In our neighborhood there are several kitties that are black w/ white
paws. We call them "socks kitties". We saw a few of them this morning.

Sawyer remarked, "If Kamatz was in Lakota he would be a socks kitty."

This is brilliant! Why? Because Kamatz is solid gray and Lakota is
solid white. I love his mind!

Sawyer, what is the name of Han Solo's ship?

"The Milellium Falcon."
